This is our second week of teaching practice and on this occasion, the next group of girls had to present the grammar lesson, the grammar that had to be developed was: ¨ He is, She is and they are ¨ the teachers in charge of developing the class were the teacher, Paola, Lidia, and Sarai.
as we know, before to every single class. We need to start with the review, this is an important part of the class. We need to remember that our students need to refresh about the vocabulary of our topic and that was exactly what teacher Paola did, the children responded well to the review, so the teacher Paola was able to go to the warm-up, Before starting the activity she model and explain with clear and short instructions what the children had to do, she developed a very fun activity for them , Afterward, she developed the following activity where she showed images to the children, asked each child if they knew what the image was about, and with that she taught them the grammar, then she made the students repeat the grammar, they responded very well, it was very good that she took the time to see that the children learned the grammar. Then she taught them a song with the grammar of the family members the children learned it quickly, this was a very favorable technique because it would be very difficult for the children to forget the grammar and to bring in the head the song that Paola taught them.
for the future we have to take into account that before giving the students the material we have to give them preliminary instructions, so that when we delivering the material they do not fill it at random, when we finish giving them the material we can say the instructions once more to students that will help to have the clearest ideas. after she did a match activity, she explained it very well with very clear instructions ,the children did a good job at the end of the activity she put them to compare with her classmates and , then they solved it together in general. It is worth remembering that having students compare their answers is a good technique to verify if they really worked .and when they comparing in general we can see if they actually learned because they contribute to give answer.

The teacher Lydia was responsible for developing the following activities, she began to deliver to the students the material without instructions this is dangerous for us, since we must remember that we are working with children, the children are usually very hyperactive and this can playing us in favor or against , as expected, they began to answer the material as they wanted, then the teacher Lidea gave them the instructions and solved the problem .

to finish the class teacher Sarai was in charge, she taught the children the family tree, she was very agile when she was giving the material to the children, she gave them a very specific instructions, the children quickly grasped the idea and made a good job, for me this was a good activity since it made the students participate, they passed in from and they showed their family members was a really good activity. to improve only that she has to pay more attention in the class more when they are in a pair job activity. Also, she has to make to her students speak loud.
As a group they did a good job with the materials and the decoration , in the class They really made a good job was their first time teaching to childrens the first time never is easy, remember we are still learning and we learn from our mistakes. I really enjoyed this class. good luck to the next time!
Hello Astrid! I greatly appreciate your publication and I agree with you in the aspect of the instructions because in the class I made a mistake of first giving the worksheet to the children without first telling them what to do on the piece of paper, then when I started giving the instructions It was too late because the children had already started working in their own way; Thank you very much for your advice in the next class I will put that into practice. Of course, as you said it was our first class and it is not easy as most think. Thank you very much Astrid.
ResponderEliminarHello Astrid! Really good observations about the First grammar class. Let me tell you that the first time doing something is difficult, however as you mentioned; We are learning to improve ourselves in any time. Adding that the three teachers did a memorable job due to the modeling process, which was quite interesting. I do not know if you saw when teacher Paola was singing with the kids. I like that part. I mean she got involved with the kids, and that is good too. Even though students will not remember all the lyric of the song, they could look back on a piece of it, and it turns into significant learning. To finish, I am wondering whether a perfect class exist or not. I think that it does not exist because we always make mistakes, getting back what I was saying, something I consider that this group can change is at the moment of giving instructions because there was a part in which the students finished at first and the instructions were after, just that.

Hi Astrid! You have mentioned very important points. Paola modeled first the activity that the kids were going to do; she did not need to give them instructions in Spanish because they understood the activity, which was very funny and I know they loved. Then She sang a song, and she make them to sing with her, It made me feel surprised because at first they were shy, but then they sang together, which was a good technique. Teacher Lidia did a good job with her activity, because she made the children to sit down on the floor; that something that they love. And Sarai activity was useful because she made children speak in front their partners which is perfect to make them feel brave.
