this week a new group was in charge of developing a grammar lesson about zoo animals, the grammar to be developed was ¨ they are ¨ and ¨ it is ¨ this was the second time that this group has the experience to teach children, I think that for that reason they were less nervous that the first time, I will start talking about Rebeca she really did an amazing job, she started to review the topic using the pictures that they had on the walls , the good part is that she was always modeling this for children is awesome because they understand better . then it started with the warm-up was a good activity she asked for volunteers and the children were very happy to participate. It was a very good activity. then she started with the introduction of the grammar that was "they are" and ¨it is ¨ really liked that she made the emphasis on the differences between "they are¨ and ¨ it is" so it was easy for children to understand how to use it, Then she gave them time to copy the structure of the grammar at all times the children were very attentive to what Rebeca was doing or saying. I really liked the energy that she brought to the class. Another thing that I liked was that she was always monitoring the class after she gave the children pictures, she had on the blackboard different sides in one corresponded to "they are" and the other side to " it is" the children had to paste the image on the right side, children loved that activity then she started to make that children repeat the grammar they made a really good job.
the next activity was developed by Ariana, she gave to the students some pieces of paper with the grammar and with the names of the animals, the children had to paste that words on the board correctly, she started to ask about the grammar the students gave her the correct answer that was a really good activity. then she gave to the students some worksheets in that the students had to complete the sentence with ¨they are¨ or ¨it is ¨ they finish really fast that activity. also, she was monitoring the children at all times, she made the students repeat the words sometimes they said the words wrong but she corrected them, I think she did a good job.
the last one was Federico. He put the students to draw their favorite animal, the children were happy to do this activity, he was monitoring the children and rewarding them for doing a good job, he had a very good attitude but I think that the production stage it was not completely completed since he asked each one his favorite animal but he did not have the students share it, in general, He had extra time and he did not take it, spending a lot of time asking each one, for me it would have been better if he chose students at random and made them describe their favorite animal. he also developed the wrap-up was a really good activity and the students really enjoyed.
- What I learn from this class?
I learned to have a good attitude and if I make an error, correct it quickly so as not to affect the children's learning. no matter how much experience we have teaching children we are not perfect and if we do something wrong we can fix it.
- things to improve.
be careful when you are trying to make the class fun we have to have a balance to not look like clowns in front of children.
divide the planning into equal parts, I think that in this class Rebeca had more work and it was heavier for her.
tell the students the instructions before you put them standing up and if there is something to clarify you can repeat the instructions.
Hello Astrid!
ResponderEliminarAs you say because it was the second time that they developed a class, they were less nervous, I think they developed their class very well, although there are always mistakes, but the important thing is to have a good attitude when we made a mistatake. to talk about the points to improve, I totally agree with the point number one, we must be very careful and balanced in our class.
Good job :)
Hello Astrid!!! I share your point of view when you mention that if we as teacher make mistakes, we should correct them in the moment. We do not have to be afraid of make mistakes because nobody is perfect. On the other hand, students can feel more confortable if the teacher show them that if they are wrong in something they can change it next time. Besides, I agree when you say that teachers must proyect a good attitude in the classroom. I know that Rebeca, Federico and Ariana proyect that energy and motivation in the classroom. Good job guys.
ResponderEliminarHello Astrid, thanks for sharing what you observe in this class I know was a little difficult observe this class for you, I really agree with you they fell less nervous than the first time they were in front of the class, also they did a good decation and they know how to use all the materials, the kids were excited and happy to participe in the class, another point that I agree is that they should to have an equal work that's true Rebeca did all of work if we take to account that she did a review, the warm up, the presentation and also the first activity, almost all the actuvities were according to the class but one of the activities were Federico ask to the kids to draw maybe they could change it maybe for a role play or something like that becouse the objective is make the students to speak and use the grammar they alredy learned, I know they will fix it the next time actually they did a good performance and they did it more than exelent if we compare this class with the first one.
