Hello, once more today. I come to talk about the reading class developed by Karla Jovel, Marisol Lozano, and Kevin Alas.
let's start talking about Karla's performance, she started with the review, it did not take her a lot of time because the children already knew the vocabulary so that helped her move quickly to the warm-up, the activity they had as warm-up was very good was to solve a puzzle, the children were very entertaining doing it was a good activity , then she starts to teach the new vocabulary, This is one of the most important parts of the class, since this person is in charge of having the children memorize the new vocabulary that has been added to the paragraph that is being used to read and this is one of the parts that steals the most time and this time it was not the exception since it took a lot of time, but it was completely necessary . also, she added some adjectives and the children understood them and learned super fast.
she developed another activity and this consisted of giving the children pieces of paper with the new written vocabulary, the children had to paste the correct word under the image of the animal or the adjective. This was an activity that the children liked very much. They were very excited about the idea of going on to do the activity. I think that Karla really made a good job developing these activities. the only thing to improve is to be careful with children right now they have more confidence so we have to have more authority over them it is true that we can be nice to them, but we do not have to let the class become in a joke.
the next to pass was Marisol she was in charge of the during 1 and during 2 although we know in a PDP lesson these stages are the most important. the activity that she developed was to make a description of one of the animals of the images that were on the board . she gave them some of those images and put them to work, the children did not understand the objective of the activity very well and they began to draw the animal instead of making the description, it took too much time, she was monitoring what the children were doing, so she had the power to stop the activity and explain to them how the activity has to be developed, remember that as teachers we have the power to stop an activity if we see that it is not being well developed. the next activity was to read a story to the children, she gave a page with the story to the children, she gave them the instructions and the children understood them super fast,Then she put the children to order the story, they did it very well and then she did the same activity, passing the children to order the story on the board. I really liked this activity.
then it was Kevin's turn for his bad luck he had three stages to develop and he only had 10 minutes to make it , he did a good job although he skipped the during 3, as before I mentioned these are the most important of our planning but he did another activity He explained it and modeling very well, the children were very entertaining doing the activity, he did the best he could with the little time he had, but he always maintained a very positive attitude.
-What would you change about this class?
in the part of karla, I think that I might not have put the children to copy the vocabulary since the children already had it in their notebook and that took more time than it should.
in the part of Marisol, I think that before doing the activity of describing the animals she would have set an example on the board or when she realized that the children were doing something else she would have stopped them and set an example.
in the part of Kevin, the only thing that would have changed is that it would have been better to do the during 3 instead of the other activity.
In general, I think they did a good job just be more careful in the small details and remember that we are the teachers and we have the power to do or remove some activities if these are not working, we also have the right to make mistakes and learn from these, good job guys.
Hello my classmate Astrid!
ResponderEliminarI read about the things you wrote, first I am so thankful for your opinion, and let me tell you that you are right in the part that we as teachers have the power to stop an activity if this is not going well. Also as you said I was the person who did not have too much time, but it is normal, in any situation could happen, and it depends on the attitude of people if this is good or bad (not just for a good score, if not to learn), and as you said "we have the right to make mistakes" Also, we are capable to avoid them too. And I chose to perform the post during stage instead of the during 3 because I wanted to accomplish the goal of the lesson, but that was my mistake I should improve it for life.
Second, I appreciate all the things you wrote. They are direct to the point, and clear, so I will take them into account.
Good entrance Astrid!
Hi Astrid!
ResponderEliminarTo start I want to tell you that I like to read your blog, also I agree with you because our classmates did a very good job in their class. I am very interested in the part where you said "we have the power to do or remove some activities", but we must be careful when deciding to omit some activity because remember that at the end of the class we must fulfill an objective, also I think the same than you because we as teachers we must model the activities of the children through examples so that they understand what they are going to do.
